Hi, I'm Kelly McCausey of Love People + Make Money. For more years than I like to comfortably admit, I let insecurities about my weight hold me back from doing things that made me happy. I let fears about being judged keep me in hiding. I let other people's opinions intimidate me.
Not anymore. I realized these insecurities & fears are only "my sh*t" and decided to get past them for the sake of creating more of what I want in my life and in the world.
Something incredible happened when I stepped out from behind my crap to create a life the way I've always dreamed of: it inspired others to do the same.
Other big women thank me for being on stages -- it gives them hope to be able to do the same. Those without a lot of formal education thank me for sharing about being a high school dropout -- it gives them hope they can succeed as well. Those caught up in debilitating judgments of self and others thank me for sharing how I've been able to step out of that extremely limiting way of life.
It seems Marianne Williamson is correct when she says, "And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." (Quote from A Return To Love)
I'm looking for messy people like me. Have you gotten past some of your own sh*t to create a business and life you're increasingly proud of? I want to collaborate with you, writing a book that tells all of our stories.
Just as I've realized I show others what's possible by simply showing up as the real me, I know the same is true for you.
An anthology is a compilation of stories (or poems, or songs, etc) with a similar theme. Think of the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series. In the SYC series, the theme relates to a struggle that people worked to overcome. Our theme is about overcoming fears and insecurities that held us back from building a life and business we love.
I've published a lot of great content, including a couple of quick and dirty self-published items in the past. But it's true - I've never worked on a professionally published book. I have a vision, but no experience to support it.
And that's why I've got help!
I've secured Karin Crompton, an amazing freelance ghostwriter. She has years of experience in telling stories that make an impact.
I've put publishing professional Candice L. Davis on retainer for the entire project. She is consulting on the theme and will guide us through every step of the publishing process.
I'm also working with author publicist Sandy Lawrence on developing our press release strategy for a more successful launch.
I've brought on Michelle Aubin, too. Michelle is in charge of social outreach. I'm thinking of her as our 'story scout'!
These gals are our publishing superheros!
Maybe you do, maybe you don't - yet. One thing for sure, we judge ourselves roughly and chances are you have far more of a story than you give yourself credit for.
As a first step, we'd like to talk with you about it. Fill out the interest form below. If you're uncertain, our outreach gal, Michelle Aubin, will listen to your thoughts and ask you questions. Our team will review and you'll know for sure if you'd be a fit for the book.
Not a problem! We have a professional here to help. Karin Crompton has been writing and editing for 26 years, and her background includes print journalism.
How does this help you? Karin is excellent at interviewing folks and getting to the heart of their message and story, so she can help you find your focus. She is also here to help write and/or edit as needed. In other words, all you need to do is show up and be willing to share. We can handle as many details as are necessary after that.
Additionally, all participants will be given submission guidelines to keep things consistent and to help steer you in the right direction.
Absolutely. The key in stories like this is to be both open and relevant. So you don’t need to share EVERYTHING in order to tell a story that’s compelling and will resonate with readers.
You might find yourself stretching outside of your comfort zone a little bit, but you shouldn’t go somewhere that would threaten your mental or physical health.
The idea is to get to the heart of what your struggle was and how you worked to handle it. It’s about finding your focus and choosing the right details, not every detail. Our life stories can unfold over years but can be summarized in short but powerful ways.
This is understandably tricky to navigate at times. If you need some help, please let us know. Our writer, Karin Crompton, has decades of experience writing about sensitive topics and interviewing people about tough subjects. Karin can help walk you through it with an interview and is here to help shape your story as needed, whether that means simple editing or writing the copy.
We'll get clear on this as we progress with the project.
Yes! All contributors will be credited as authors on the book.
All contributors will receive a proof of their section prior to the book going to print.
You bet. The book will be self-published with excellence and launched on Amazon. There will also be a Kindle Version.
This early we're not clear on that. We estimate a development process of 6-9 months. We promise not to t rush or sacrifice results to beat a clock.
Short answer: We do.
There is a lot involved in developing an anthology and publishing in a fashion we can all be proud of.
By applying and being accepted into the project, you agree to pay $500 into a fund that covers our expenses. From our publishing adviser (Candice) to beautiful book design to our initial printing and shipping costs.
Your partnership commitment includes 5 printed copies of the book being shipped to you. If you would like more, it can be arranged.
The publishing team will decide on proper placement of the stories to ensure flow and readability. Your contribution is used solely to offset production costs; there are no additional tiers.
I have no plan for sharing profits. I honestly have no perspective on whether a book project like this ultimately creates a profit in and of itself.
Use the simple form below to express your interest. We'll be reviewing and talking with all interested parties to see if your story is a fit.
Contributors commit to email to their community, social media marketing, and submitting a press release.
You'll also participate in a virtual summit during the book launch. We'll work together to get the launch as much attention as possible.
It is our plan to make you look fabulous, so of course you'll want to promote like crazy!
Good question! We’ll leave that one to Hollywood, but we’re sure it’s someone sexy.
You want to tell your story and inspire others? Tell us about it and we'll get in touch ASAP.
