This is a guest post from Angela Wills, who quit her job to work as a Virtual Assistant in 2007. She soon moved her business into the digital marketing world to add passive and recurring income to her business and create complete lifestyle freedom.
Just less than one year ago I owed over $20k to the government and had another $20k in other debts (credit cards, line of credit and a loan). Taxes were coming due again and I was completely FREAKING OUT.
I was worried about my relationship, my house, my stress and my anxiety that was starting to turn to panic attacks. I was also really worried about my family and how it was affecting them.
That’s not easy to share and admit but I know that reading my story could be the prompt someone needs to act and make changes. It feels important to share while it’s still fresh in my memory. It does get easier AND more freeing each time I tell someone!
I want you to know I’m NOT a money expert. I’m someone who’s turned my money story around WHILE growing a thriving business and raising an active family. I’m also just a person with some tips that worked for her who’s really hoping that they’ll work for you!
And so, let’s get right to it.
Here are the simple but powerful tasks to do if this story hits close to home for you, too:
Get it ALL Consolidated.
This is not revolutionary advice, not at all. I knew it. I did a partial attempt at consolidating, but I didn’t get ALL DEBTS, so I was still in a money-leaking cycle. In a desperate attempt to not feel completely overwhelmed with my money problems I called the company we had our mortgage with and asked them if we could consolidate ALL our debts. It took about three months and a lot of patience, but we got it done, and it changed EVERYTHING. This one simple (but not easy) task was the most important thing I did to turn my money story around. If you do this one thing and promise yourself NOT to go back to old habits it could mean the same for you.
Track Your Money.
Also, not news. But if you want a reality check then go ahead and find out what you’re spending your money on. Print out the bank reports and see how much you spent on coffee in the last three months. Not to feel shame or guilt but to KNOW and then DECIDE what to do with that information.
BELIEVE In Your Money.
I heard this over and over. I though “yea, ok”. Believe in the flow of money when I don’t know where my next mortgage payment is coming from? Believe in the flow of money when no matter how much I make there never seems to be enough? Believe in the flow of money when I’ve been in double-digit-debt not once, twice or three times but FIVE? Those thoughts WERE my problem and I couldn’t get to the believe part until I got step 1 completed – so please do that and then sprinkle your “magic pixie fairy believing dust” EVERYWHERE (not a real thing but perception IS reality so just do it lol). You NEED to believe that you will have money or your subconscious will make it it’s job to make sure you have none.
I have a lot more tips, twenty tips to be exact and you can find them in my Money Master Challenge (which is more like a Money Master GAME). I couldn’t cover them all here and I also wanted to turn it into a product so I could provide as much personal support as I can for those who are serious about making this change. It’s $19 because I want it to be affordable to anyone spending money, they don’t have like I was for most of my life and then I want you to NEVER have to spend money you don’t have ever again.
I’m into money mastery now for a total of eight glorious months.
- It’s freeing.
- It’s powerful.
- It’s worth fighting for (and then letting flow once you get there).
I hope you will do so and if I can be of service in that area please do let me know. I would absolutely love to hear from you.
Thanks so much to Kelly for letting me speak to you here at Love People + Make Money. Love, Angela
